In the Department of Lot, where I work now, a city caught my attention for several reasons: Cahors!! First, because Cahors, named for the important wine-growing region where I work, and second because they belong to the "Chemin de St Jacques Compostella" in the Via Podiensis (Gr 65), unique in France with sections pertaining to World Heritage.

Here my intention

of sightseeing, was to gather information to start making the Camino de Santiago in stages of the Via Podiensis ....... maps, lodging, crossing cities, get our credentials .... the end, only we have a map, the rest will try to get in these coming weeks.

On the contrary, we enjoy a real day of spring and a no! picnic on the river Lot ...... wine, cheese, beef and goat, and peace of mind ..... maybe too much for sightseeing later.

After lunch (and a lot of effort), we toured the area medieval city, situated on a peninsula surrounded by a meander of the Lot, which gives it a unique beauty to this site. I think That We Could Be Officially crowned as Their PICKNICKERS Majesties ... This weekend to make a bit of difference (and Because the weather forecast for sunday wasn't so good) we made the traveling day saturday ... WAS it just the perfect day to do picnic ... Which off course we did! Yepsen These Were the perfect two hours at the riverside in Cahors! The problem than was to move our picknicker butts and do a bit sightseeing:)
Cahors is one of the sweet french towns, that make you fall in love with them at first sight. It´s the hometown of  Gambetta , a fomous french politician(so now we know why all the cities in France have a square or avenue called Gambetta:P) The most impressive part of the city is definately the famous bridge. It´s indeed beathtaking and beautifull and it´s worth to come to Cahors just to see the bridge (which btw is on the Camino de Santiago). The day we were at the bridge there was a anti gas extraction demonstration.

Szorcik: kolejny leniwy Weekend ... Friday and Sunday at the cinema and sunny Saturday intended to visit. We were in Cahors-town is beautiful, but after visiting several other similar big impression already does, but yes-bridge allows the leg ... As we are becoming the real "weekenders" and also touched the spring on our door, because no other remedy we have come to visit Albi !!!!!

beeing We love the sunday Tourists ... again after a lazy saturday we jump up on a discovery tour in the surroundings of Our hometown. And again we found a place definitely worth Knowing. Albi is one of These medieval French cities Survived Many Centuries in Which Almost an untouched state. Walking around the streets adorable small Sometimes you get the feeling That you're just missing a long robe and a corset (well...i mean if you´re a girl or a drag queen I guess).
Since a year Albi is on UNESCO´s list of World Heritage Sites and I´m only asking myself why only since a year. The red bricks linked by wood logs make the perfect combination where the colourfull shutters are icing on the cake. The walls, sometimes showing the passage of time, mossy or  distorted hide stories you´re craving to listen to... and the streets are full of these lovely buildings and the streets are countless... And than, when lost in the labiryths of houses, you discover their hearts- the hidden  courtyards, even more mysterious and beautifull than the still representative facades . And when once you get to see some of the courtyards, you turn into a  peeper, you become addicted of looking in every keyhole in hope to find a new treasure. Visiting Albi can really get adventorous... and if you get tired off chasing ghosts of the past on the lovely streets, you can take a brake in the garden  of the castle: Palais de la Berbie, enjoying the view view on the river, passing by only few meters down, under the Pont Vieux(built in the 11th century- it´s one of the oldest bridges in France) and separating the town in two pieces, or drink a beer (coffee?) at the mainsqure, looking at the monumental Sainte Cécile cathedral (if it couses goose-flesh on me, I can´t even imagine which feelings it woke in people looking at it in the15th century!!!)
I highly recommend visiting the courtyard of the old monastery which is a real oasis of peace in the towncenter.
And if ther is sometime left you could also visit the Henri de Toulouse Lautrec museum. The paintor was born in Albi, but as I´m a fan of his works, I got a bit dissapointed by the museum. There are not many original great works of his to see there...The museum is ok, but if you really want to enjoy (and not end up craving for more , like I did ) the talent of Toulouse Lautrec, you need to go somwhere else... like Musée d'Orsay in Paris.

Szorcik: again a wonderful time we did a weekend getaway. The weather this last weekend was more winter than spring-summer, so be able to enjoy a 100% Albi: and that is something to delight you. I feel quite zupelniei mesmerized and enchanted. Poor shaggy not kept, and I had to snap a photo of everywhere ... no but the streets were such a cute! well as breathtaking cathedral denies both!

Today March 13, we have started visiting the villages in the region ...... we have begun Saint Antonin Noble-Val .... located at 47km from Montauban known in the region, as a beautiful medieval village.

The typical medieval town, get lost among its streets is a delusion to the view and surprises .... but best of a Sunday, is your market! Stroll around a French market, filled with cheese, pepperoni, wines, fruits, vegetables .... has a very pleasing ending: pic-nic!

Today I stopped at a place of pepperoni (my weakness) and I could not resist buying a small piece ..... Marta did not resist the cheese ... and if we add that the place was sold bulk wine, as we already had the perfect combination! Now we only need the location, in a wonderful place like this is hard to choose .... but a nice wooden table, along the Aveyron river, and views of the medieval village, is priceless! health whether that wine! and much good to the products of the land ....

When we moving to Montauban Thought ... what the heck??? It Seemed nice enough, But Not To Be the first choice in the contest for a place to live ... now i have changed my mind .. Not about the beauty of the town Itself ... but about the region we live in. Sunday We Went to visit St. Antonin Noble-Val-a breathtaking, beautifull medieval, quote Which is only about 40km from Mtauban. Already But the way to St. Antonin WAS woooow's full of my and WHOOOOAAA's. The town sits on the bank of the Aveyron, beneath the beetling cliffs of the Roc d'Anglars. And these monumental rocks make an icredible impression...make you wanna jump out of the car straight into wild nature.

The town is full of old houses, which all seem empty and ghosthaunted. In most of them nobody is living (anyone up to squat the town?!) and they are not renovated. The city smells of old, humid basements made of rock...but it's a nice smell- makes you think about the stories enchanted in the old walls...

Sunday is also the market day there... so the pleasure was doubled... the perfect views and the perfect pic-nic after sightseeing... cheese, olives, wine from plastic bottle (sold on the street... 1 euro/1l and really not so bad, but sooo strong ...)

Let's just say That this was the first but not the last visit there ... We see it as a research before discovering the real of the region .... kayaking, trekking, cycling, horse riding, climbing: Adventure here we come!

Szorcik Montauban already seized, so the time was to move beyond the boundaries ... no, and it was worth .... I breath deny these views: rocky river valleys, majestic cliffs overgrown with bushes, mountain streams and miles of open space, waiting for them to score. Well, Saint Antonin lovely medieval town where we were able to taste the local specialties (oh, those cheeses) straight out of Sunday's tarowiska, doing z widokiem Piknik na to ze rodem architektoniczne cudenko sredniowiecza.
